Getting to know someone is very important for relationships. We miss out on so much by not taking the time to truly know one another.
I was reading from Daniel 11 this morning and verse 32 leaped off the page:
Daniel 11:32b – “. . . BUT the people who know their God shall stand firm and take action.”
I am blessed to work around military people. I was born into a military family – so my heart is with these wonderful men and women. I know them. I know what they go through. I know what they stand for.
The Navy Seals come out to our Camp into their own training facility. They are always training. Many people think that they are a little stuck up. But I know better. What sets them apart is their dedication – their discipline. And they truly know one another.
When they prepare for missions – getting ready to leave home – there is a mind change – a preparation for being able to leave family. It is not easy. But most importantly they know one another on their team. They stand firm and are ready to take action.
It is the same thing with God. It is important to have a relationship with him where you desire to know him. More than anything. AND it takes time to do so. Once you have established a firm foundation in him, you just keep seeking him – getting to know him. It is hard to explain, but you can see it on the faces of those who have known him a long time. Those who have truly taking the time to know him.
TO KNOW GOD is the highest and best form of knowledge. And this spiritual knowledge is a source of strength to the Christian.
The more I know God – the more I love him.
