Today is a good day for encouragement.   I know I would enjoy having some Jesus hugs.

Such words of encouragement are found in Matthew 11:27-30:

Matthew 11:27-30: “My Father has entrusted everything to me. No one truly knows the Son except the Father, and no one truly knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.”  Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.” (NLT)

Let’s sum up those words:

• I can truly know God
• Come to Jesus and He will give me rest
• Jesus will teach me how to lay my heavy burdens down
• Jesus is humble and gentle at heart
• I will find rest for my soul in Him
• His yoke is easy to bear
• The burden Jesus gives me is light

WOW!  Why would I not choose what Jesus offers me?

Rest for my soul

As I unfolded God’s Word in Matthew, the words that jumped out at me: “And those to whom the Son reveals Him.”

This is a key to the Christian life:

• No one truly knows the Son except the Father.
• No one truly knows the Father except the Son.
• And those to whom the Son chooses to reveal Him.

I can know the Father.  There are keys throughout the Bible that back up those words spoken by Jesus – God can be found and known.  You just need to go on a Treasure Hunt and start finding these keys to knowing God.

And don’t forget, you will find rest for your Soul in Jesus – give your worries and stresses to Him and let Him deal with those heavy burdens.

Oh, Heavenly Father, what joy feels my heart to know that I can daily know more and more about You.  You continually reveal more of yourself to me.  I have so many treasure rooms filled with the treasures that I have found along my journey with you.  Father, if there is anyone who is truly seeking You today, let them ask to find You.  Give them some nuggets of Truth to start building their treasure chests and rooms.  Protect us from the evil one who is seeking to destroy our trust – our devotion – our faith.  May Your Name be glorified today.  I ask this in Jesus Christ’s name, Amen.
