AS I sat this morning having my morning coffee with my Heavenly Father, I read through Psalm 47 – praising the God of Heaven and Earth – Sing Praises.
And I was reminded that God has always made my life an adventure! I have not always liked the route that he chose for me over the years, but he has always been faithful and right there in the midst of what was happening.
Then I saw that I had done a blog post at this time last year, and felt it was so worthy of what we are facing today. So I decided to share it with you as a reminder that he is always there with us – we just need to remember to praise him.
Mongers
That is the word that I spoke at 5:44 this morning as I woke up.
Mongers.
It has become popular in social media. It was not always used in such a negative manner. But today, it has become fashionable:
- Fearmonger
- Hatemonger
- Hypemonger
- Rumormonger
What has become the focus of your life today?
All this “mongering” going on goes against the very principles of the Heavenly Father.
So what is a monger?
“A person who attempts to stir up or spread something that is usually petty or discreditable – usually used in combination.” (Merriam-Webster Dictionary)
This fear – this hate happens when we take our eyes off of Jesus.
In order to change our behavior, we must always replace one behavior for another.
As I sat reflecting upon the word given to me this morning, I asked the Father, “What can I replace this negative word with?”
Love. That is what came to mind. But I wanted something more.
Then I thought, isn’t there a Scripture about Jesus being the author of something. So I looked it up and sure enough there it was in the book of Hebrews:
Hebrews 12:1-2 – “Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
NKJV
I love the words used in the King James in this verse: Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith. Look to Him.
Jesus had many mongers surrounding Him daily – filled with hate – with fear – with deceit. And yet, He finished the race – He showed us the way.
I am so thankful for the reminders given to me by the Heavenly Father. Reminding me today of the “mongers” who surround me. And yet, Jesus has shown me the way, to keep my eyes set upon Him – the author and finisher of our faith.
JOY. That is the joy we receive by following in His Footsteps.

My Song: Keep your eyes upon Jesus. That is the only way we can walk through our journeys here on earth. When we falter, the mongers appear, trying to pull us away from our Author and our Finisher of Faith. Today, don’t get caught up in mongering.
