Unfolding God’s Word – Day Two

As I unfolded God’s Word for today, I was deeply touched by the words written. Please take the time to read the Scriptures below and then pause and meditate upon the words that you are drawn to for today.

Psalm 85:8-13
I will listen to what God the Lord will say;
he promises peace to his people, his saints —
but let them not return to folly. Surely his salvation is near those who fear him,
that his glory may dwell in our land.

Love and faithfulness meet together;
righteousness and peace kiss each other.
Faithfulness springs forth from the earth,
and righteousness looks down from heaven.
The Lord will indeed give what is good,
and our land will yield its harvest.
Righteousness goes before him
and prepares the way for his steps. (NIV)

Listening is a Skill

I was first drawn to the word “Listen.” My first thought was how many of us actually listen to one another today? Do we hear what another person is saying? Do we think before we speak?

My reaction to this question: Do we truly listen to God? Do we hear what He is saying to us? Until we can hear what God says, I feel that it is impossible to hear what another person is saying to us.

Four more words touched my heart in reading this Scripture this morning:

Love; Faithfulness; Righteousness; Peace

Love and Faithfulness meet together. Righteousness and Peace kiss each other.

I am going to share some of my thoughts on these words from my study of the Torah – Jewish Learning and Values. I have learned many new things in my Journey through http://www.chabad.org this year.

The Words used in the Rashi Commentary for Love and Faithfulness are Kindness and Truth.

The people will speak truth and from heaven kindness will meet them. The people are listening to God and taking His Words deeply into their hearts for they are giving up their foolishness and following Him.

In our social media today, we have become accustomed to hearing lies repeated daily; to the point we don’t even know what truth is anymore. IF we would just learn, once again, to speak truth, then we would see kindness from heaven.

Righteousness and Peace kiss each other. What a powerful way to say that sentence. The righteousness (charity) that the people are performing and the peace from the Holy One will kiss one another. And here I add another Scripture:

Isaiah 32:17
The fruit of righteousness will be peace;
the effect of righteousness will be quietness and confidence forever.
(NIV)

Our righteousness – our charity will be peace.

These are nuggets from God’s Word that I unfolded today. Fresh Manna.

My Song:

May you be blessed today in the Presence of God.
