Missing the Point

Have. You. Ever. Missed. The. Point?

So many times throughout the New Testament, one can read about men that missed the point.  Missed the point about Jesus.

You see – one can miss the point when one is so full of hatred towards another – that they become blind – ignorant – to what the point is.

Jesus spoke in John 5 about men that missed the point – they even refused to accept eternal life from Him.  Why?  Hatred.  I truly believe hate kept these men from accepting Jesus as the Lord and Savior of this world.

ABIDE.

As I prepare to go into the Lent Season, the word “Abide” comes to mind this year.  You must go into the deeper waters to truly gather the meaning of this word.  Desire to go deeper still to find the treasures attached to this word.

Below, I share with you the Scripture that I read this morning:

John 5:37-40 – And the Father himself has also testified about me. You have never heard his voice or seen him face to face, and you do not have his message in your hearts, because you do not believe me — the one he sent to you.  You search the Scriptures because you believe they give you eternal life. But the Scriptures point to me! Yet you refuse to come to me so that I can give you this eternal life. (NLT)

How many times have you searched through the Scriptures looking for words that agree with your heart?  How many times have you missed the point?

I share some words from a man with the wisdom of God:

“It is altogether possible to be instructed in the rudiments of the faith and still have no real understanding of the whole thing.  It is possible to become expert in Bible doctrine and not have spiritual illumination, with the result that a veil remains over the mind, preventing it from apprehending the truth in its spiritual essence.” – A.W. Tozer

I would never give up treasured moments spent in seeking God and His Word and His Spirit.  For over 19 years now, I have truly sought to know God.  It started out with a tiny treasure chest.  Today, I have treasure rooms that I can search through.

Allow God to enlighten the eyes of your heart so that his Word may abide in you.

My song for the day:

You are my Treasure
