Remain

Savoring. Saturday. Two. Nuggets.

Savoring days are specials.  You have already opened up the Word and have already had a taste of it.  Now you get to go back and savior it.  You know what it taste like and now you get to really enjoy it.

I have put this together as “two nuggets” this morning.

River Nuggets
Savor the Lord’s Nuggets

Jesus has been talking with his disciples.  He knows that his time on earth was coming to an end.  He was prepared to do what the Father asked of him and also preparing this little group for what was just around the corner.

John 14:30-31 – “I don’t have much more time to talk to you, because the prince of this world approaches. He has no power over me, but I will do what the Father requires of me, so that the world will know that I love the Father. Come, let’s be going.” (NLT)

Now.  We take a look at the first few verses from John 15.  Savor them.

John 15:1-8 – “I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener.  He cuts off every branch that doesn’t produce fruit, and he prunes the branches that do bear fruit so they will produce even more.  You have already been pruned for greater fruitfulness by the message I have given you.  Remain in me, and I will remain in you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful apart from me.

“Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.  Anyone who parts from me is thrown away like a useless branch and withers. Such branches are gathered into a pile to be burned.  But if you stay joined to me and my words remain in you, you may ask any request you like, and it will be granted!  My true disciples produce much fruit. This brings great glory to my Father. (NLT)

For me, the word “remain” sticks out.  Remain.  Stay connected.  Do life with Jesus.

And the result: I start maturing and then I start glorifying the Father.

So, if I put these words from this past week in a “nutshell,” this is what I would say:

“Come, go with me.  Remain with me in life-union.  Becoming more and more like Jesus and understanding what it means to glorify the Father.”

It is simple.  It is a game-changer.  Come, let us follow in the footsteps of Jesus.

My song today – let the words surround you with the love of Jesus.  He is the lover of your soul.  Never let him go.  Remain.  Stay in life-union with him.

Jesus, Lover of my Soul
