Little. Steps. Brave. Moments.

I love the story about David and Goliath.  A young boy who was not fearful of his giant.  A man who mocked him.  A man who mocked the God he served.

David learned that lesson about little steps with brave moments at an early age.  And when he came to the giant, he knew what to do.  You can read about his story in the Bible in the book of 1 Samuel 17.

When you get to my age, you can look back and see those little steps with brave moments.  One brave moment that I can look back on that changed my life was when my first husband, Pat died.  It was difficult.  It was scary.

Pat died suddenly.  I wasn’t prepared for it.  But I took the words that he had spoke to me over 20 years ago about making decisions.  He was my protector.  He walked with the Lord.  I trusted him.

Then all of a sudden, it was just me – me to make decisions.  Big decisions.  But I took his words and stepped out in faith trusting:

“You will have to make decisions in your life.  Sometimes you make the right choice and sometimes you don’t.  But whatever you do, never just sit there and make no decision – sitting down and doing nothing will get you nowhere and leave you in fear.  Stand up and take that step of faith and experience trust in the Lord.”

That is it in a nutshell.  Trust the one who created you.  Take those little steps of bravery along the way and when you come to a giant in the road – you will know what to do.
