“FEAR NOT, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10 (ESV)
FEAR. Fear keeps me far away from the Father’s heart. It causes me to hide away and remain silent.
What does God tell me when I am fearful?
He will give me strength.
He will help me.
He will support me with his victorious right hand.
In other words, “He’s got it!”
He waits with His hand outstretched – waiting – waiting for me to put my hand in his hand. To trust him.
It seems so simple at times and yet, we hold back sometimes in fear.
FEAR keeps us from using our gifts from Him too.
“For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands, for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.” 1 Peter 1:6-7
Living in fear, kills the spirit within. It keeps us from serving. It keeps us from believing.
As I sit here this morning, thinking about freedom – freedom in Christ, I realize that I can’t go back to slavery – I can’t go back to Egypt. For then, I return to the dark places of fear, no longer living for Christ.
My light cannot shine out if I crawl back into the crevices of darkness. Neither can your light shine.
Remember. Remember today – He gives us strength. He is our help. He holds out His righteous right hand to support us. Don’t let go.
Father, I am holding on to you. In the middle of the storms, I am holding on. Father, I pray for those who are struggling to hold on. Those who may be struggling with their fears and are afraid to reach up and take your righteous right hand. Lord, help us to encourage one another. Help us to remember that the power within us is what raised Christ Jesus from the dead. Resurrection power. In Christ’s name, Amen.
My Song: Never give up. Keep holding on. He has promised that he will give us strength. He has promised that he will help us. He has promised to support us with his righteous right hand. Don’t let go.
The picture accompanying the post says it all. That little hand resting so trustingly in the bigger hand touched my soul, and you are right, in that fear robs us of closeness to God. I have learned not to let fear prevent the joys I am meant to savor in this life. Well done.
