How terrible to fear so much that we would associate it with punishment.
Today, we will unfold the Word of God in 1 John 4:16-21:
1 John 4:16-21 – God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them. And as we live in God, our love grows more perfect. So we will not be afraid on the day of judgment, but we can face him with confidence because we live like Jesus here in this world. Such love has no fear because perfect love expels all fear. If we are afraid, it is for fear of punishment, and this shows that we have not fully experienced his perfect love. We love each other because he loved us first. If someone says, “I love God,” but hates a Christian brother or sister, that person is a liar; for if we don’t love people we can see, how can we love God, whom we cannot see? And he has given us this command: Those who love God must also love their Christian brothers and sisters. (NLT)
IF we live in God, our love grows more perfect. And as our love becomes more and more like our Father’s, we are able to love others as He has loved us.
Can we revert back to fear?
Yes, we can! If we allow fear to filter back through our minds and our hearts.
Perfect love expels all fear.
IF we have fully experienced God’s perfect love, then we can overcome fear.
How do we experience God’s perfect love?
We stop allowing man to bring fear back into our lives. We stop agreeing with hatred and manipulation and bullying. Yes, today – right now, we are seeing bullying taking place in our Country. FEAR consumes us.
In these past months, we have seen how fear is used to manipulate the lives of others. And it should not be! It should not be accepted. This fear needs to be expelled.
Desire. Our desire must be to experience the perfect love of God; it changes everything in our lives. We will find out that we can live like Jesus and grow in love – becoming more Christ-like each day.
One important key found in this verse is that we can’t say we love God and hate another brother or sister in Christ. It just can’t be done. It states that we are liars if we do hate another believer. How can we not love what we can see and then say we do love what we can’t see – God?
We have been given a commandment to love one another. Are you following that command? If not, it may be that you haven’t experienced fully the love of God. It may also mean that you are trying to love from your own heart that is not capable of loving others with the love of God. His love must be experienced for you to understand this beautiful promise.
Father God, I come this morning praying for a breakthrough in not only my heart – but the hearts of all your children. Father, may we be released from fear because we have found perfect peace and perfect love in You. Help us to remember daily – that GOD IS LOVE. O Father, I pray for those who need a Savior today – help them to reach out to you and lift up the name of Jesus – Jesus – Jesus. Everyone is given the opportunity to come to Jesus and believe in Him as God’s Son who came to give His life so that all might live. Do not fear this day. Call upon the name of Jesus that you might be saved from your sins. Break out hearts Lord until we can truly say that we love our brothers and our sisters. I ask this in Jesus Christ’s name, amen.
My Song: Fear Not. For our God is with us. I share a Bible verse with you today from Exodus 14:14 – :The Lord himself will fight for you. Just stay calm.” Stand back and watch what the Lord will do.
