Unfolding God’s Word – Day 27

Trust is a word that leaps out from my heart this morning.  In whom or what do I put my trust?

I know today, without a shadow of a doubt, that I can trust in the name of the LORD my God.

Put Your Trust in the Name of the Lord

I struggled for many years, knowing and understanding who I was in the Lord.  I lived in fear – afraid of man.  I lived to please man and not God.

For me, it was impossible to fathom that God loved me.

Then that beloved day, when I went into the Treasure Rooms of God alone.  I had remembered a verse that I had come across on another day secretly.  So I searched and searched and found that verse:

James 1:5-8 – If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind. For that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways. (ESV)

Let me tell you, I read through this verse and fear crept over me and consumed me.  O Lord, do I have the right to pray this?  Enveloped in fear, I wrote out those words in my journal – almost 19 years ago – and I prayed:

“Father, I desire to know Truth more than anything in my life.  I have been so fearful of man, I couldn’t get to Your Heart.  I ask this day for wisdom.  Your Word tells me to ask God and that you will generously give to anyone who asks – who asks in faith – no doubting.  Show me the way Lord to Your Heart.”

Those are the basic words that I prayed that day.  God has been faithful to His Word.  There is none like my Heavenly Father – the Almighty – the True and only One God that exists.  You can trust in Him.

Today as I walked through the Treasure Rooms of God, I was thinking about that – trusting in God.  I remembered a verse that I had come across in a treasure chest years ago.  So I went to the Treasure Room marked “Psalms” and pulled out those trustworthy words:

Psalm 20:7 – Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God. (ESV)

Trust.  What are you putting your trust in today?  I have loved this verse for years – the Lord has brought it back to memory many times over the past years – and He always asks me the same question, “What are you putting your trust in?”

Two years ago, it was a different year.  It was a year of building up my trust in Him.  What a year of discovery:

  •  God gave me a task that year to discover what it means to be a “lover of souls.”
  • He entrusted me with a task that only He could show me the way.
  •  I trusted Him to guide me and He was faithful.
  • It was a year of no fear – #NoFear2016.
  • There is no fear when I trust in Him alone.
  • Then the building of words: Listen – Obey – Trust

I can see why He led me down this path.  If I had not followed and trusted in Him, I would still be laying on the ground wounded and afraid of man.

The days ahead of us are trying ones.  But we must know who we put our trust in today.  What are you putting your trust in today?

Stand proud and stand firm and shout out to the world that you put your trust in the name of the Lord!

My Song:  Trust in God today.  Do not allow fear to control your life.

Trust in the Lord
