The Pen of Your Dreams

Have you ever felt like you were missing something?  You knew it was out there – even within your grasp, and yet, you could not touch it.

Lately, I have felt like that.  That I sense something out there and yet I can’t put my finger on it.

About seven years ago, when I counseled with others, or shared my dreams – my thoughts with them, I envisioned a paintbrush in their hand. That is all I knew. Many thought it meant that they would paint on a canvas and yet they could not catch the vision past the paintbrush.  Why? They had no talents in this art.  So what was this crazy woman trying to tell them?

Today, I have the answer.  You ask, “why today?”

Because I am stepping out into a group of writers – hope*writers, many who have been hiding out in the shadows, afraid to share their dreams – their writings.  For many, it appears they have found their safe harbor within this opened-air place to be who they are.  To create.

Chase the sun.  Dream. Explore. Don’t sit in the shadows – spring forth and find your pen.

What pen did God put into your hand to create with?

  • Writing
  • Painting
  • Chisel
  • Scalpel
  • Microphone
  • Camera

What pen is in your hand – hiding out in the shadows of the land along with you?

When God originally gave me the vision of seeing others with a “painting-brush” in their hand, he wanted me to focus upon the creation part.  No, it didn’t have to be a paintbrush – but it was for those I counseled – that I prophesied over to find for themselves what was in their own hand.

What is important for me? To trust God, even when I don’t have all the puzzle pieces, to keep writing, to keep sharing, to keep counseling, to keep prophesying, to keep encouraging others to find the pen of your dreams.

Have you discovered your gift? Your ability to create?

That is one thing that has become a lost art – encouraging others to find their “PEN” – their “Paintbrush.”

Spend some time this week discovering who you are – what you were born to create.  And then, step out of the shadows and do something about it.

Find someone to encourage. Live. Laugh. Love.

It’s time to start creating.  Let it begin.

  1. I recently was given a miniature blank canvas from a prophetic friend. This blog post reminds me of the need for me to create, not only in writing but in taking up painting/drawing as well. Thank you
