Unfolding God’s Word – Day 29

In 2000, I was able to attend a Music Conference in New York with the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir. It was such a fun trip and I was blessed in so many ways. It started my journey with God in a totally different light. I became hungry for God like I had never done before. I wanted to discover more and more about Him.

It has never changed over these last 20 years; I seek Him daily. He is my everything.

And The Lord Sings Over You and Me.

There was a speaker there at the time, but I don’t remember his name, but he placed a Scripture into my mind and my heart that has never left. And I have shared those words with many to encourage them especially during the night hours.

Zephaniah 3:17

The Lord your God is with you, he is mighty to save.
He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love,
he will rejoice over you with singing.” (NIV)

I received a CD with recordings on it by this man and yet I didn’t listen to it for a few more years. One day I went out for a walk on the property that we owned in Montana and that day I decided to take that CD and listen to it. There was a song that came on about the Lord sings over me and the Lord touched me at that moment and I broke down crying. To imagine that the Lord sings over me; He really does!

When I got home, I opened by Bible to that Scripture once again and read it. I was truly blessed and from that day forward, I say those words in my prayers at night, just before I go to sleep. He has been faithful and just in watching over me and singing over me at night and I arise in the morning praising Him.

There have been nights that I have forgotten to ask Him to sing over me, and I can honestly say that it most always was a terrible night of rest.

Let’s look at that Scripture again:

Zephaniah 3:17: “The Lord your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing.” (NIV)

  1. The Lord your God is with you
  2. He is mighty to save
  3. He will take great delight in you
  4. He will quiet you with his love
  5. He will rejoice over you with singing

Soak in those words of our Lord today.

Somehow that CD got misplaced in a couple of moves and I haven’t been able to find it. It was never published as far as I know – it was just some songs he shared at that Music Conference at the Brooklyn Tabernacle. I have never been able to find it searching online. And I am sure, if I found that CD that I might not have the permission to share the song either.

So I did a little more research and I found a song written several years ago that I listened to this morning and it blessed me so I will share it with you today. I realize over the years that many people have been blessed by these words found in Zephaniah.

Dear Heavenly Father, I thank you for these words that you placed on my heart years ago and blessed me that day that I went for a walk and heard those words poured out over me. I have never been the same since. I love you, Lord. I ask this in Christ Jesus’ name, amen.
