Walking in Light

Whose light are you walking in today? Have you been walking in your own ways? Your own thoughts? Your own lies?

I was drawn to a Scripture in Isaiah this morning, that I wrote down one year ago today:

Isaiah 50:10-11 – “Who among you fears the Lord and obeys his servant? If you are walking in darkness, without a ray of light, trust in the Lord and rely on your God. But watch out, you who live in your own light and warm yourselves by your own fires. This is the reward you will receive from me: You will soon fall down in great torment. (NLT)

Whose Fire are You Sitting at?

I think we have all got caught up in our fires. Our own ray of light that we are trying to shine out into darkness. Maybe even so far away from the fire, you no longer see light of any kind.

These words are a warning to His people – warning that we might want to look at the ray of light that is in our paths today.

God is cleansing His Church; there is no doubt that is what He is doing. Churches today have placed “gray areas” into their communities that has pushed the Light away from the Darkness. Good has become evil; evil has become good. Many appear to have their own ray of light guiding them; no longer sitting at the fire of the Lord. Many have made up their own rules and guidebooks no longer following the Light.

God’s warning within this Scripture reminds us to take a look at our walk with God. Take a look at yourself and if you are walking in darkness without a ray of light, trust the Lord and start relying on Him. And if you are living in your own light and warming yourselves by your own fires, be warned – you will soon fall down in great torment.

I feel that is where many believers are right now – warming themselves by their own fires. God is saying to take a look and get back to trusting in Him. All you need to do is look out at social media and you can see where many believers who have been in the limelight for years are going their own way and sitting by their own fires.

It’s a good time to take a look at your heart and decide whose fire you will be sitting at.

Heavenly Father, I am so thankful for this reminder from you this morning. As your children, are we playing with fire? The fire of our own making? The fire of our own desires? Father, forgive me if I have indeed been sitting by my own fire, roasting in my own thoughts and my own ways. Help me to remember my desire so many years ago of desiring a heart just like yours. Help each one of us today, to be willing to test the fires we sit at, and come running back to you – away from the darkness and the way of our own desires. May we once again, allow you the control of our lives. I love you, Lord. I ask this in Christ Jesus’ name, am
