Be Still

Day 5 Tiny Daily Treasures

At times, it is hard to sit still. To be still.  In the Presence of God.

In order to learn how to “Be Still,” we must get to know all about our God – our Heavenly Father.  It takes time.  It must be savored.  It must be treasured.

Jesus said we would know His Voice.  But it takes being still – being silent – anticipating His Voice above all others.

“BE STILL, and know that I am God.  I will be exalted among the nations; I will be exalted in the earth.”  – Psalm 46:10

Oh, Father, I yearn for wisdom to discern when I do battle and when I remain still – still before You.

LEARN WISDOM

“I wish you would stay silent; for you, that would be wisdom.”  – Job 13:5

There have been times in my life that I had to eat my words – words that were not filled with wisdom at the time.  I am so thankful for those tiny daily treasures that I find in God’s Presence that show me the way to His heart – His thoughts – His ways.

Wisdom is something to be desired.

Listen for the Shout

Day 3 Tiny Daily Treasures

A time for silence.  A time to speak up.

Silence is Golden

“Do not shout; do not even talk!  Not a single word from any of you until I tell you to shout – THEN SHOUT!”                    – Joshua 6:10

Yes, it can be hard to learn how to remain silent.

Silence is golden.  Remain silent.  THEN when God says it is time – SHOUT!

Awestruck.  Memories.  Silence.

Awestruck in the arms of Jesus

“But the LORD is in his holy temple; let all the earth be silent before him.”                                 – Habakkuk 2:20

Oh, Father, those precious moments, alone – awestruck and in silence in the midst of your love and your glory.  I will always treasure these moments with you.

Calm Yourselves Down

Day One – Tiny Daily Treasures

So many times we just wear ourselves out trying to do battle that isn’t even ours to do.

The Lord gave me a verse several years ago for learning how to find rest for my soul.  It is a simple verse and yet packed with power and wisdom:

JUST REST IN THE LORD

Exodus 14:14 – “Adonai will do battle for you. Just calm yourselves down!” (CJB)

It never fails that we get ourselves into trouble when we don’t stand back and let God fight our battles for us – we get worked up and then just turn plain ugly.  Ugly!

Remember, God has His children’s backs – let Him fight the battle for you.  Stay calm.  Rest in Him.

My song for today:  The Battle Belongs to the Lord

Gifts of Words

My Words can bless you; my Words can curse you. Or, my words can remain dormant.

We have a power within us that can bless one another.  And yet, more times than not we remain silent or even worse – curse one another.

Gift of WORDS

Ecclesiastes 3:1,7(b) – “For everything there is a season, a right time for every intention under heaven: . . . . . . . a time to keep silent and a time to speak.”  (CJB)

HOSPITALITY is a great time to honor each other.  Maybe for a birthday.  Anniversary.  Graduation.

But so many times we have a celebration and we forget to honor the one we are celebrating.  Yes, we can have great food – fun – but if we remain silent we keep the gifts of words inside of us.

Words can be a gift to another.

This year as I take the time to savor memories and treasure the great things that I have learned from my Heavenly Father, I am discovering what it means to honor another with my words.  When a birthday comes up – or just the spur of the moment, I have taken the time to gather a basket of Words to honor someone in my life.  It truly takes time to think of what another person has added to my life – moments that I am learning to savor – to treasure.

REMEMBER, when you take the time to gather for a celebration – don’t forget to come prepared to speak words that will gift the heart of the one being honored.  Don’t remain silent.  Speak up and bless each other.

SPEND time in prayer asking God what He loves about another person.  Learn to speak up and live in a culture of honor.  Learn how to become a Culture of Honor.

A different song for today – by Jason Gray – feast upon the words of Love:

With Every Act of Love

I’m Running to His Arms

What a peaceful and joyful vision – to run into the arms of God.  There is no peace that can match that place within His Arms.

Safe.  Rest.  Protected. Love.  Grace.  In His Arms.

Running to His Arms

A year ago, I wrote these words in my prayer journal:

The dark night of the soul.  I can do only two things in the darkness that surrounds my soul at times.  I can run to God or I can run away from Him.

It was at a Women’s Bible Study that I discovered a beautiful song: Forever Reign – by Hillsong.  Women were at different stages in their walk with the Lord.  Some more expressive;  some quiet.  When this song played during our worship time, it touched our souls.  I so wanted to run to His arms – that safe place. You could feel the desire swell up in the hearts of His daughters to literally run to Him.  This scene is forever etched into my soul.

I leave this song for you today in hopes that you will find a sale place of rest in the arms of your Heavenly Father.

Forever Reign
