Unfolding God’s Word – Day Five

In a world drowning in HATE, these words speak loudly and yet many are tone-death to the Word of God.

Yes, indeed! Such a sadness consuming the hearts and souls of men.

Scripture for today is found in Psalm 86:12-17:

With all my heart I will praise you, O Lord my God.
I will give glory to your name forever,
for your love for me is very great.
You have rescued me from the depths of death.

O God, insolent people rise up against me;
a violent gang is trying to kill me.
You mean nothing to them.
But you, O Lord,
are a God of compassion and mercy,
slow to get angry
and filled with unfailing love and faithfulness.
Look down and have mercy on me.
Give your strength to your servant;
save me, the son of your servant.
Send me a sign of your favor.
Then those who hate me will be put to shame,
for you, O Lord, help and comfort me. (NLT)

What has filled your heart this year? Have you allowed hatred to consume every moment of your life – awake and asleep? This month is a good month to take a look at your heart; asking God to do heart surgery if necessary to clean up the mess within your soul. It is not always easy to ask this of the Father; but oh so necessary.

My focus this morning is upon verse 14:

Psalm 86:14: “O God, insolent people rise up against me; a violent gang is trying to kill me.
You mean nothing to them.”

I love the word “Gang.” It so describes our world today – gangs filled with hatred and chaos destroying our Land. People ignoring the Father and focusing upon their hate and lies and corruption. Desiring to destroy others who will not submit to their control.

It is not necessary to look at the original Hebrew meanings in the words today; I think it is easy to understand what is meant in these words today.

As a Nation, we can no longer allow this hatred and corruption to continue into our very souls – deep down into our bones. It must end and we must start standing against it. It starts with one heart at a time willing to change and get back on the path of God’s.

Heavenly Father, I come to you today, heavy in heart for our Nation. We have gotten so far off the path of faithfulness and truth; we no longer seek you. Father, I pray that we will seek heart surgery from the great Surgeon today and ask you to start repairing those broken pieces within our souls. Draw us back to your path and may we be willing to go with you. I love you, Lord. I ask this Christ Jesus’ name, Amen.
